Benetton SS26

One film, four reels, one day

Benetton India's Spring Summer '26 campaign, made through Candy Shop. A one-minute film, four reels and over 40 stills were shot in a single day, on two sets in one studio, with the same models and the same clothes: Shalini Singh directed the stills, and I directed the film and the reels.

The brief

Benetton India's Spring Summer '26 collection: ten themes across men, women, boys and girls, 56 looks on four adult and four kid models. One shoot day had to deliver 40 stills, a one-minute film of the whole collection in horizontal and vertical, and four vertical reels. The brief's Benetton character was relaxed and inclusive: someone who doesn't try to stand out, but simply belongs everywhere.

What we found

The stills and the reels were sharing the same models, the same clothes and the same day. Reels cut from the stills set would only ever look like behind-the-scenes footage. They needed their own set and their own way of grouping the collection. The stills would show the clothes; the reels had to show them being lived in.

The idea

Four reels, four occasions. The garments came to us as ten themes, and as a team we sorted them into Everyday, Holiday, Colours and Kids, each a 35–40 second reel with its own props: a briefcase, papers and a bouquet for a Monday at the office; strollers and bags for Holiday; a basketball and a Zumba ball for Kids. Colours went back to what Benetton has always owned: each garment matched to its Pantone card, and people walking up to camera in one flat colour each, until all four meet in a single frame. United by Colors. The master film then carries the whole collection in one minute.

How it came together

Two sets, one cast. Shalini Singh directed the stills on one floor of the studio while I directed the film and the reels on the other, with the same models and clothes moving between the two.

Shot wide, cut tall. Every reel was shot horizontally and edited vertically, so the footage worked in both formats.

No other brands. Props were picked to match the collection (flowers in its colours, balls, hoops, instant cameras), and nothing branded was allowed in frame.

The crew. Stills by Anand Gogoi, video by Anchit Dogra, produced with Monkey Punch Films. BTS directed by Piyush Kumar and shot by @kanak.mov.

What shipped

A one-minute campaign film in horizontal and vertical, and four vertical reels, for Benetton India's Spring Summer '26 season, all shot on the same day as more than 40 campaign stills.
